I am also known as Queen Esohe or Queen of Storytelling. However, it hasn’t always been this way. From a tender age of 6, I had become aware of my skills in writing, speaking and acting. I would take acting roles in church and school and totally enjoyed myself!
However, I had an experience at the age of 10, that had nothing to do with acting at all! I used to take a lot of a popular biscuit in Nigeria called Pako Biscuit. It was a hard and sweet biscuit and I loved it! However, I had a nasty habit of not drinking water for long periods of time. One day, I went to the toilet and after pushing and grunting for more than 30 minutes, I couldn’t finish my business, so I took it back in.
Over time, I kept storage of so much poo, I wriggled in pain. One day, I couldn’t take the pain anymore, so I cried out and got the attention of my parents. They had to rush me to the hospital and for the first time in my life, I was rushed to the labour room – at the age of 10!
The doctor put a pump in my bombom and asked me to push! There was warm water in the pump and as I pushed, it sucked away my few days old poos.
As that was going on, I was screaming and crying, cause it was painful. When I was done screaming and crying, I heard a woman in the next room screaming too – but for a totally different reason. She was having a baby.
Once I regained full control of my bowels and could poo without stress or external help, I was happy and fulfilled.
However, that unique experience opened my eyes to the frustration and pain entrepreneurs go through when they can’t articulate or express their stories freely.
It makes them literarily wriggle in pain and disappointments as they struggle to market their products or grow their business. Sometimes, like me, they keep it in, pretend it doesn’t exist and keep bearing the discomfort and pain until they reach their breaking point and can’t take it anymore.
It made me realize that story + ability to tell = Fulfillment and story – ability to tell = Frustration
I decided I didn’t want to feel the way I felt in that labour room EVER AGAIN.
I also didn’t want any entrepreneur I knew feeling that frustration and pain of not being able to tell their stories and grow their business
Mentors, Madmen and Movements
However, as I interacted with other business owners and individuals, I realized that not everybody knew this powerful secret of storytelling. Those who knew it were not doing anything about it. They kept churning out the same promotional ‘’buy now’’ messages that had no soul and lacked resonance with people.
As a people person, I wondered how I was going to help correct this abnormally I saw in the marketplace. As I pondered on this, I had a conversation with my mentor, Steve Harris, CEO EdgeEcution, Life and Business Strategist. He recommended that I attend Orange Academy, the brand management training school, in Lagos, Nigeria and do a diploma in Integrated Brand Experience, I enrolled and I have never regretted it.
In that community, I met ‘’MAD MEN’’ like myself who questioned the status quo, understood the power of storytelling and had been using it for decades to build powerful brands, endeared to their audience, telling unforgettable stories and enjoying profitable returns in their businesses.
In this same season, I had the privilege of volunteering at an event (Social Media for Business Bootcamp (2015) by John Obidi). An event 3 of my mentors, Steve Harris, Victor Bassey and John Obidi were speaking at.
I had attended the event with burning questions on how to empower entrepreneurs with what I knew, helping them build global storytelling brands. After the event, I was so excited that I didn’t have to reinvent the wheel. I could just learn from the masters.
I got the clarity I needed to start my organization, The Global Brand Network and launch my storytelling movement.
Scam Alert! I was Set Up!
You will not believe this!!!
I was set up!
And very cleverly too!
I had been promised that if I chose to accept the call to share my story, herald a message and serve a community….all my dreams and desires will be achieved!
Alas, It didn’t happen like that!
I picked a message I was very passionate about – personal branding and I started promoting it on my social media platforms…alas, all I heard was crickets.
I got some likes and comments on my stories…but none of this was leading to anything…at least not money in my account.
I also had a tiny little problem…or so I thought.
I was fresh out of school, just finished NYSC (National Youth Service Corps)…..what did I know about life or even business for that matter?
I honestly felt like….A SCAM!
Who am I to share my story?
Who am I to herald a message?
Then the most important question….HOW?
I was stuck in this phase, really contemplating giving this one up and just chasing another course of action…
I discovered a secret power I had that changed my life and business forever.
Secret Powers, Powers That Be And My Village People
Everyone has a secret power.
Sometimes it’s latent, other times it’s very obvious.
I have a secret power and my secret power is I know how to tell captivating stories….and teach people how to tell them too!
I NEVER saw it as a gift or secret power because I could do it so effortlessly.
Until I started getting feedback from my audience about how they love my stories and would love to tell stories too.
In my mind, I said ‘’it’s so easy…just write your story and share!’’
However, when the comments persisted I decided to hold an online class to teach people how to tell stories.
It was me just testing my powers…just to prove if they had any potency or not.
I put the offer out and started promoting my storytelling class on Facebook.
In 30 days, I had 10 new clients and $1,000 in my account!
I knew I had to focus on this storytelling thing.
Focusing on it got me to the place where I had to get clear about who I wanted to serve.
And doing that made me sure that I wanted to serve you – a driven and ambitious entrepreneur, aware of all she has the capacity to be, committing to living life to the fullest and empowering others to become better versions of themselves by creating and sharing personal stories.
I realized I derive a lot of fulfilment from helping storytellers like you use their stories to market their brands and attract paying clients…
However, all this may not have been possible if I didn’t decide to come out of hiding and share my stories and secret powers with you and thousands of other storytellers like you!
Coming out of hiding was a big one because I felt there were other big shots, powers that be, already sharing their stories, promoting their businesses and with bigger audiences.
I also had a concern about sharing my stories with my audience. I am a private person and I had family and friends online who would stalk me and call me to remark about every post I put up online.
I had to make a decision to allow my secret powers to find expression, tell my stories and grow my business helping others grow their businesses and share their stories too!
When I made this decision, I experienced an unprecedented growth in my life and business.

Telling my stories and sharing it with my audience was the easy part.
The hard part was leveraging my stories and experiences to build influence and multiply my income.
